EDUCATION

Program Director: Dr. Dave Krupp. Our education team is presently working on three programs to be launched in the near future.

Oceanwide Outreach Program

This program seeks to provide children of all ages with a greater understanding of the ocean and its inhabitants and to encourage their involvement in the protection and conservation of marine resources. The program will be brought to classrooms throughout Oahu by OSI's education specialists, and will be coordinated with teachers to fit and enhance their current curriculum.

Community for the Ocean Campaign

An educational booth will be set up at as many community events as possible, using trained volunteers and educators. Artifacts and other educational materials will be used to demonstrate, teach and interact with Hawaii's community. OSI's presence at community events will also be used to recruit new volunteers, and to advertise our programs.

Oceanwide Lecture Series

A summer series of lectures by invited speakers will be open to the public. Lectures will target adults of all age groups and will introduce marine related subjects of relevance to the local community.
