While earning her B.S. in Marine Biology at UCSC, Megan worked as a research assistant at the Pinniped Cognition and Sensory Systems Laboratory. At the Pinniped Lab, she participated in the collection of arctic seal audiograms and became interested in marine mammal bioacoustics. After her junior year she spent the summer in Germany interning at the Marine Science Center where she worked with harbor seals and assisted in sensory experiments. Megan then returned to the Pinniped Lab and continued work there through graduation. Megan joined OSI as a master’s student in the fall of 2015 and is studying acoustic behavior and habitat use of spinner dolphins in west Maui. She hopes to continue on to a PhD and ultimately, a career in marine mammal bioacoustics research.
